9 a.m. update: An extended rush hour

Posted by: Tim Harlow Updated: July 9, 2013 - 9:01 AM

The rush hour is supposed to be winding down at this hour, but the heavy rain and heavy traffic volumes will make for slow going for the next while.

Several routes continue to creep along and congestion refuses to loosen its grip. Traffic tie ups are in place on both east and west 694 from Zane Avenue to 35W.

You'll also find the squeeze on westbound 94 between the downtowns, I-494 in both directions between 24th Avenue and Hwy. 100, and northbound 35W from the Crosstown to 94.

A crash on eastbound Hwy. 10 is making for tough sledding in Anoka. One lane is blocked.

Watch out for a car fire in New Hope at 42nd Avenue and Winnetka Avenue.

And some intersections in the south metro are flooded. Be careful as you pass by, better yet, take a different route.
