Starting Wednesday, Megabus.com will begin service in St. Paul.

The low-cost inter-city bus line will drop off and pick up passengers at the Midway Shopping Center. The stop will be located at the northwest corner of Pascal Street and St. Anthony Avenue, the company said.

This will be the second location in the Twin Cities. The big blue buses also stop in Minneapolis near the Metrodome at 3rd Street and Chicago Avenue.

Passengers who have tickets from Minneapolis can choose to board at the new St. Paul stop, company officials said.

“Adding another arrival and departure location in this market gets us closer to Concordia University students and provides more options for our customers,” said Mike Alvich, vice president of marketing and public relations for megabus.com.

Megabus.com offers fares a low as $1 one way. The company operates in 12 hubs, including the Twin Cities, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Texas Triangle (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio), Washington D.C. and Toronto

Megabus.com is one of the largest privately funded providers of city-to-city express bus transportation and serves approximately 100 cities in North America, including routes operated by other Coach USA subsidiaries

“Megabus.com will bring more visitors into the Minneapolis/St. Paul region,” said Karolyn Kirchgesler, President and CEO, Visit Saint Paul. “Megabus.com’s $1 fares make summer travel more convenient and affordable.”

Each year megabus.com carries six million customers safely on more than 200,000 trips using the most modern fleet of double-decker buses on this continent. Since its launch on April 10, 2006, megabus.com has served more than 24 million travelers.
