A construction project to replace the Bass Lake Road bridge over Hwy. 100 in Brooklyn Center begins today. The bridge will be closed for the next four months.

MnDOT will replace the 45-year-old bridge. The $2 million project also includes a wider bike and pedestrian paths, new guard rails and wider medians.

Highway 100 will be closed for two weekends (to be announced) to prepare the bridge for construction.

During the closure, westbound traffic will be detoured via John Martin Drive to Shingle Creek Pkwy. Eastbound traffic will be re-routed south to Brooklyn Blvd., then back north on Hwy. 100.

The bridge will reopen in August.
