Need to shred a bunch of documents? Saturday's your day.

On what promoters have dubbed "Secure Your ID Day," anyone can take up to five boxes of documents, CDs and tapes to the St. Cloud State University's Welcome Center on Saturday morning for "free and secure" destruction of your personal information.

The event is sponsored by the Better Business Bureau, the Minnesota Small Business Development Center and Shred Right, a shredding service. The BBB cites a study that claims one American is victimized by ID theft every three seconds. The shredding event takes place every six months at different locations nationwide.

Organizers will also distribute tips on how to protect your identity, conduct a drawing for a free shredder and provide refreshments.

Where: St. Cloud State University's Welcome Center

355 Fifth Av. S., St. Cloud, MN

When: Saturday, April 20, 9 a.m. to noon.
