TurboTax delays state tax filings

Posted by: Jane Friedmann under Businesses in hot water, Whistleblower Updated: February 25, 2013 - 5:28 PM
The Minnesota tax returns of thousands of TurboTax customers have been put on hold while the company tweaks its tax-preparation software, according to the Minnesota Department of Revenue.
The tax-preparation software company notified the state that it won’t be processing the individual Minnesota income tax returns submitted electronically by 11,000 of its customers until it fixes software issues, the department said.
One problem for TurboTax programmers centers on “an error in the political contribution part of the property tax refund return result[ing] in the party designations being mislabeled,” the state said.
The company expects the problems to be resolved this week, at which time it plans to process the backlogged returns.
