Duluth is putting a piece of its history up for auction. The city will sell Endion Station, the old railroad depot in Canal Park after playing landlord on the 113-year old building for more than a quarter century. Bids are expected to start at $200,000.

Mark McShane, the city's property and contract manager, told the Duluth News Tribune that he's been busy showing the property and many would-be owners appear to want to put in a restaurant or bar. Potential buyers have to let the city know their plans for the property.

________________________ Luring big-spending conferences isn't an easy sell for outstate communities, but Rochester tourism has felt a bump courtesy of medical conferences hosted by the Mayo Clinic. A conference this week – Individualizing Medicine 2012 -- brings Mayo's local financial impact past the $1 million threshold. The Rochester Post-Bulletin has the story. ________________________ And to toot our own horn: The Star Tribune had several must reads from around the state in Sunday's paper. First investigative reporter Tony Kennedy looked at the frac sand debate in St. Charles, Minn., which is weighing whether it wants to potentially become the frac sand capitol of the state. And regional reporter Larry Oakes took a look at how La Crosse, Wis., is trying to sober up, after too many drunk young men have fallen to their deaths in the Mississippi River. ________________________ News tip?
