Friends and family of Winona State University student Kari Bowerman, who died mysteriously with a friend in Vietnam last month, are starting a letter-writing campaign hoping to spur the federal government to investigate more aggressively, the Rochester Post-Bulletin reports. Bowerman and the friend were on break from teaching English at a school in South Korea. Friends and family suspect poisoning may have been involved, the newspaper reports, and they are directing letters to Minnesota senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, along with Rep. Tim Walz.
