The fire early Saturday in south Minneapolis that left one dead and four others hospitalized originated on the 112-year-old house's porch, but what started it is unknown, the Minneapolis Fire Department said Monday.
Fire crews responded to a fire at a house at 2812 1st Av. S. at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Assistant Fire Chief Cherie Penn. They found flames in the first two stories of the 2 1/2-story house, rescuing two people from a top-floor window and three others from inside the house.
One person died at the scene. Four others were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Their condition remained unknown Monday.
The medical examiner has not yet released the name of the deceased.
