School board to play a road show

Several thousand of its students are homeless, and for the month of August, the school board will be as well.
It’s taking its August board meetings to first South and then North high schools during its transition between its old headquarters and the new on at 1250 Broadway Av. W.  The board decided to go out to the community rather than meet in its old quarters while the room in the new builidng is being completed, according to spokesman Darryl Sellers.
Here’s the schedule:
  • Aug. 14, South High School, 3131 19th Av. S., public comment at 3:30-4 p.m. and meeting from 4-6 p.m., meeting will adjourn by 6 p.m. due to primary election;
  • Aug. 28, North High School, 1500 James Av. N., 6-8 p.m.
The Sept. 11 board meeting is scheduled for the new headquarters, with public comment at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting at 6 p.m.
