On the busy Pride weekend, the Hiawatha light rail line will be closed in downtown Minneapolis and replaced with buses.

From 6:30 p.m. Friday until 3:30 a.m. Monday, Route 55 buses will run in place of the trains between Target Field and Franklin Avenue stations because of maintenance, Metro Transit announced.

The closure will happen as the Twin Cities Pride Festival takes place in Loring Park Saturday and Sunday.

The buses will have a detour Sunday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. because of the Pride Parade. Passengers at Warehouse District/ Hennepin Avenue Station are advised to get on the buses at 4th and Nicollet.

According to the Metro Transit website, buses will run more often than trains, but they will take longer. Transit employees will help direct rail passengers to the buses at key stations and Rider Alerts will also indicate the location of bus stations.
