A teenager who allegedly knew the killer of Parrish Gray, and ran with him after the shooting to hide in the basement of a north Minneapolis home, has been charged with being an accomplice after the fact, a felony, according to court records.

Kyle E. Hickman, 18, of north Minneapolis, was with the alleged shooter Tuesday evening near the intersection of 18th and Emerson Avs. N. when the shooter opened fire at a car, striking Parrish Gray, 25, according to a criminal complaint.

Hickman and the shooter then ran to Hickman's mother's house and hid in the basement, according to the complaint. Hickman told authorities that he saw the shooter wipe down the 9 mm handgun used in the killing with rubbing alcohol and hide it in the basement. The gun was later recovered by investigators.

Hickman's mother also told investigators that she saw her son and the alleged shooter run into her home shortly after the shooting.

Another witness said the shooter walked up to the car Gray was riding in and shot at it because it was driving "janky," according to the complaint.

Gray, who was riding in a car with three others, was declared dead at the scene by a police officer who had been conducting an unrelated traffic stop nearby.

Hickman was arrested early Wednesday morning, according to jail records. He was charged Thursday.

Police officers are actively searching for the alleged gunman, according to the criminal complaint. The Star Tribune generally does not name suspects until they have been charged with a crime.
