One of the state's largest religious advocacy groups will hold it's annual Day on the Hill at the state Capitol on March 20 to lobby legislators on initiatives dealing with poverty and protecting vulnerable groups of people, among other issues.
Last year, nearly 900 members of the Joint Religious Legislative Coalition lobbied legislators on issues like universal health care and increasing the minimum wage. JRLC has been lobbying at the Capitol over 40 years.
This year, the interfaith coalition representing the Minnesota Catholic Conference, Minnesota Council of Churches, Islamic Center of Minnesota and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas is expected to encourage legislators to "protect services to those living in poverty and to reform our judicial selection process to ensure impartiality," according to a released statement from the JRLC:
