The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the State Patrol said the Interstate was not fit for travel between Hudson and Tomah.
All highways are considered in hazardous condition, according to a statement, and the Transportation Department was going to start restricting access.
The department advised against any travel on any Wisconsin highway through Sundayunless "absolutely necessary."
Motorists should make other plans, the department said, especially pulling off I-94 and finding shelter for the night.
