A 33-year-old woman has been sentenced in northern Minnesota for peppering a 15-year-old grocery co-worker with sexually charged text messages.
Maria Elena Kremper, of Cass Lake, was sentenced on March 22 to 15 months in prison. However, that punishment was stayed and she was placed on three years of supervised probation. Conditions include 60 days in jail, with the option of serving that time on electronic home monitoring. She also must register as a predatory offender.
The ultimate sentence, according to Cass County Attorney Christopher Strandlie, is "pursuant to Minnesota sentencing guidelines."
Kremper pleaded guilty to a felony of communication of sexually explicit materials to a child in connection with more than 1,600 text messages she exchanged with her victim in August 2009.
According to the charges, filed in October:
One message included a photo of Kremper showing her breasts to him. The boy told authorities that the two also had kissed and that she had forced him to fondle her at the Cass Lake home of the boy's grandfather.
Kremper met the boy at Teal's Market, where both worked. The case came to the attention of authorities after a few people, including another grocery employee, said they had seen some of the messages.
