An eastbound pickup truck crossed the interstate median and struck an SUV head-on near Melrose, Minn., on Tuesday, killing the pickup's driver, authorities said.

The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. on westbound Interstate 94 in Stearns County, according to the State Patrol.

Killed was Cedar R. Bryan, 23, of Wildomar, Calif. The SUV driver was treated for minor injuries.

Also Tuesday, a woman and boy from Rochester were killed and four other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in southern Wisconsin.

A 24-year-old woman was driving a Dodge Caravan south on Interstate 39/90 near Newville Road in Rock County when traffic slowed, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol. She tried to slow down, lost control, crossed the median into the northbound lanes and struck a Ford Taurus driven by a 25-year-old man from Madison, Wis., the patrol said.

Two people in the van, Ruby Alexander, 54, and an unidentified 6-year-old boy, were killed. Three others in the van had nonlife-threatening injuries, as did the Taurus driver.
