During 2006, 3,661 suspects were referred to U.S. Attorneys for child sex exploitation offenses. Of those:
• 69 percent involved child pornography, followed by sex abuse at 16 percent.
Almost 6 out of every 10 child crime suspects were prosecuted in 2006. Of those:
• 90 percent were convicted and sentenced to prison.
• The median prison sentence was 63 months.
