Shih Tzu rescue seeks public's help with dogs

Last update: November 13, 2009 - 8:09 PM

A representative of a Minnesota Shih Tzu rescue organization is asking for the public's help in finding homes and health care for eight dogs that remain from the 30 rescued from a breeder's north Minneapolis home last month.

Lin Eckland of Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota said the eight dogs are in the care of Minneapolis Animal Care and Control. Most need special veterinary care, including dental work and in one case jaw surgery. Veterinary care for all the dogs is expected to cost $15,000.

The dogs' previous owner, Loretta Roach, 74, has been charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty. Roach ran a breeding business called Tiny Paws Tzus.
