Last update: November 11, 2009 - 8:40 PM

A body was found in a burning vehicle early Wednesday near Hayward, Wis., and the death is being treated as suspicious, the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities were called about 4:15 a.m. about a vehicle fire at a home about 20 miles east of Hayward on County Hwy. B. The vehicle is registered to the owner of the residence, the Sheriff's Office said.

When the fire was put out, a body was found inside. It was sent to the Ramsey County medical examiner's office for an autopsy and positive identification.

No other information was being released Wednesday, a Sawyer County dispatcher said.
