Last update: November 2, 2009 - 7:58 PM

A 42-year-old man from the Red Lake Indian Reservation has been sentenced in federal court to five years in prison for assaulting a woman by grabbing a pot of boiling water, grease and beef and dumping it on her head.

Ronald Dean Oakgrove Sr., who was sentenced last week, pleaded guilty in April to the Dec. 15, 2008, incident, which included him declaring to his victim, "I hope you die."

In his plea agreement, Oakgrove admitted that he poured scalding water and food on the woman.

The woman was treated for third-degree burns to her head, shoulders, arms and back. Oakgrove was arrested the next day.
