Six people were injured, one seriously, in a two-car crash Saturday night in West St. Paul, the State Patrol says.
The crash occurred at about 9 p.m. when a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier pulled out of a shopping mall parking lot onto Robert Street and into the path of a northbound Mercury Mystique, which hit the Cavalier broadside on the driver's side.
A 26-year-old woman riding in the Cavalier was thrown from the car and received head and abdominal injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. She was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where she was reported in critical condition. Her name has not been released.
Another passenger, a 26-year-old man from Columbia Heights, also was ejected from the car and suffered non-lifethreateaning head injuries, the patrol.
2 other passengers in the Cavalier and the driver, Fabio R. Dierings, 23, of St. Paul, received non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mercury, Lynette J. Landrum, 40, of West St. Paul suffered minor injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the patrol said.
All were taken to Regions Hospital.
The Inver Grove Heights, Mendota Heights, South St. Paul and West St. Paul assisted.
