The Minneapolis school board announced plans for the upcoming superintendent search at its board meeting Tuesday.
The board needs to replace outgoing Superintendent Bill Green, who announced in July that he would leave at the end of the 2009-10 school year to return to his teaching post at Augsburg College.
Board Chairman Tom Madden said that the school board plans to complete a series of meetings with parents, staff, community partners and other stakeholders by early November. The purpose is to see what those groups think of the district and have them prioritize qualities they want in a new superintendent.
The board also plans to research the experience of districts that have searched for a superintendent recently or are doing so now.
According to the plan, the board then will prepare a request for proposals, or RFP, from a person or firm able to lead the board through the search.
