Glyndon 2-year-old running toward dad hit, killed by car

Last update: September 27, 2009 - 7:58 PM

A 2-year-old boy from Glyndon, Minn., was killed Saturday afternoon when he ran across a rural road and was struck by a vehicle.

The boy, Gage Jacobson, was riding a four-wheeler with his father when they stopped to talk to a passing driver, said Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist. The father, Jon Jacobson, remained seated on the four-wheeler, but the boy got off and went across the street to play in the ditch.

The boy was running back to his father when he was struck by another vehicle, Bergquist said. The accident happened about 3:10 p.m. on 170th St. N. about a mile north of Hwy. 10. He died at the scene.

Speed does not appear to be a factor, the sheriff said.
