Lonsdale man was victim of auger accident

The man who died Saturday after falling into an auger was identified on Sunday as Samuel R. Young, 49, of Lonsdale, Minn.

The man who died Saturday after falling into an auger was identified on Sunday as Samuel R. Young, 49, of Lonsdale, Minn.

Young was killed shortly after noon on Saturday while working at Country Stone and Soil in Eureka Township, according to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office.

He was feeding mulch into a hopper that led to an auger when it became clogged. Young fell in when he tried to clear the clog. He died at the scene.

The Sheriff's Office and occupational safety and health officials are investigating the accident.
