Four people, including two motorcyclists, died Thursday and Friday in crashes, according to authorities.
One motorcyclist, a 48-year-old man from Bloomington, was thrown from an overpass ramp onto Hwy. 100 around noon Friday in Golden Valley, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The man, who has not been identified, was not wearing a helmet.
In Anoka County, a motorcyclist collided with a vehicle making a left turn at a St. Francis intersection Thursday evening, according to the Sheriff's Office. The 49-year-old man from Princeton, Minn., died after a 20-year-old woman from Nowthen "drove directly into the path" of his motorcycle while attempting to turn left from westbound Ambassador Boulevard onto southbound Bridgestone Drive, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. The motorcyclist "was not able to stop or take any evasive measures."
A 22-year-old woman was killed early Friday when she was struck by a passing car as she stood outside of a car that had rolled over on Interstate 94 near Monticello, the State Patrol said. Page A. Humphrey, of Ojibwa, Wis., died at the scene of the accident about 2:45 a.m. She was in a car driving east on the freeway when it lost control, rolled over and ended up in the left lane. Humphrey and Ray Sowell, 20, of Monticello, were standing outside the car when it was hit from behind. Sowell's injuries were not life-threatening, and the driver of the other car, Marla Rolsing, 47, of South Haven, was not injured, according to the patrol.
A man from Mapleton, Minn., was killed Thursday afternoon when the car he was in was hit by a semitrailer truck on the south side of Mankato.
The State Patrol reported that Chad Bergemann, 28, died in the accident, which occurred about 2:30 p.m. According to the patrol, Bergemann's car was heading north on Hwy. 22 when the driver tried to turn left at an intersection and was hit broadside by the truck.
Neither driver was seriously injured, the patrol said.
