Man killed in Mankato crash

A man from Mapleton, Minn., was killed Thursday afternoon when the car in which he was riding was hit by a semitrailer truck on the south side of Mankato.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Chad Bergemann, 28, died in the accident, which occurred about 2:30 p.m.

According to the patrol, Bergemann's car was northbound on Hwy. 22 when the driver tried to turn left at an intersection and was hit broadside by the truck.

Neither driver was seriously injured, the patrol said.
