A tornado touched down near Martell in northern Pierce County, Wis., about 5 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service confirmed.

Sheriff Nancy Hove said the tornado caused damage to buildings and property but no injuries.

News video showed that the tornado flattened one structure and upended a deck at another farm.

NWS meteorologist Todd Krause said residents in the largely rural area had about 10 minutes' warning before the twister struck. The storm intensified as it moved east past River Falls, Wis., he said.

At the Spring Valley Golf Course, a woman who answered the phone said the tornado was gone before it got there.

In southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, other storm cells prompted several short-lived warnings and watches.
