Minneapolis jogger who collapsed and died is ID'd

Last update: April 7, 2009 - 11:22 PM

A jogger collapsed and died in Minneapolis, and authorities had to seek the public's help before they were able to identify him.

He was identified Tuesday evening by the Hennepin County medical examiner as Charles Winship, 60, of Minneapolis. The preliminary cause of death was determined to be natural, and no autopsy will be conducted.

A witness saw Winship fall to the path about 8:30 p.m. Monday near West River Parkway and E. 26th Street, the medical examiner's office said. Winship's name was not immediately known because he didn't have any identification with him while he was jogging.
