Red River Valley update

Last update: March 23, 2009 - 9:12 PM

Today: Temps in the 30s, low 40s; rain/snow mix.

In Wahpeton-Breckenridge: The Red River is expected to crest today; officials believe they are in control, but the additional rain and snow will make it challenging.

In Fargo-Moorhead: Volunteers are working to fill 500,000 sandbags daily in order to be ready for Thursday's potential record crest.

In Grand Forks-East Grand Forks: Officials await next week's crest, confident the dike system they built after the disastrous 1997 flood will hold back the water.
