Could the system be improved? In January, a study group commissioned by the state Legislature recommended improvements to the guardian and conservator system. Here are some highlights:
• Provide training for people appointed as guardians or conservators
• Provide more information for family members about how guardians and conservators work
• Use technology to allow the court and family members to track cases and spending
• Create a better process for soliciting, handling and resolving complaints
• Create a statewide register of guardians
