The celebrity lineup for WE Day, the series of arena-sized gatherings whose mission is to rev up young people to actively make a difference on local and global levels, was announced Wednesday for next month's stop in St. Paul.

Singer Paula Abdul and original "Star Trek" cast member George Takei are among the headliners for WE Day at the Xcel Energy Center on Sept. 20.

Also on the bill: actress and YouTube personality Lilly Singh, Jamaican singer OMI, singer-actress Sabrina Carpenter, actress Olivia Holt and "The Voice" winner Jordan Smith.

Among those featured will be 13-year-old Mandi Simon of Eagan, who founded Simon Says Give, a nonprofit organization that has given birthday parties and school supplies to thousands of low-income children.

Mandi's charity has been so successful that the Jefferson Awards Foundation, a national organization that recognizes youth leadership and problem solving, named her one of its 2015 GlobeChangers.

Young people wishing to attend WE Day can't buy a ticket. They earn their entry through service, by taking action on one local and one global cause of their choice.

Last year's WE Day at the X drew 18,000 attendees. The day featured motivational speeches, including one from Chelsea Clinton.
