One person killed in crash on icy Dakota County highway

One person was killed and another was injured Sunday afternoon after a car hit a patch of ice and rolled over in Dakota County.

One person was killed and another was injured Sunday afternoon after a car hit a patch of ice and rolled over in Dakota County.

The driver and passenger were both thrown from the Pontiac when it hit a patch of ice in the southbound lane of Hwy. 52, went off the roadway and rolled over, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The passenger was killed and the driver sustained minor injuries. The victim's identity has not yet been released.

The accident occurred at 12:11 p.m. on wet roads, according to the State Patrol. No other vehicles were involved.
