A 53-year-old man from Hastings was killed Wednesday night while snowmobiling in northeastern Minnesota.
Steven Rahman was driving his snowmobile eastbound on the Taconite State Trail, 15 miles southwest of Tower, when he failed to negotiate a curve and hit a tree. He was with four other people at the time of the accident, shortly after 7:30 p.m.
Rahman, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene. Authorities said speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
