A second conviction has been won in the jewel heist of a Roseville pawnshop that left a cashier shot and bleeding.

Marvin Spencer Sr., 53, of St. Paul, was found guilty by jurors last week for his role in the robbery of the Pawn America on July 21, 2014, in the 1700 block of N. Rice Street.

Derrick Lynch, 52, of St. Paul, also was charged and convicted for his role as Spencer's accomplice. Sentencings for both are pending.

According to prosecutors:

Spencer pulled a semiautomatic handgun from his waist and told two cashiers not to move. He shot at and wounded one cashier as the employees put up their hands. Meanwhile, Lynch smashed a display case with a heavy tool and grabbed jewels valued at more than $58,000. Two other employees drew gunfire but escaped unharmed.

The two robbers bagged the jewels and fled in a car.

Pawn America received a phone call several days later from someone who said two men were at a Georgia hotel wearing a lot of jewelry and had quite a bit of cash.

By the time authorities arrived, Spencer had already left, but he was tracked down at a home in Moline, Ill., and arrested. The employee who was wounded identified Spencer in a photo lineup as the shooter. Lynch was nabbed in Woodbury nearly three weeks after the crime.

Spencer's criminal record dating to the early 1980s includes aggravated first-degree robbery and burglary, among other convictions. He was released from prison about four months before the robbery. Lynch has convictions in Minnesota for burglary, arson, property damage and illegal weapons possession.
