Minnesotan wins $400,000 in Powerball drawing

Last update: November 6, 2008 - 11:25 PM

A Powerball player in Minnesota came within one number of winning $20 million in Wednesday's drawing, but that person did pick up $400,000. The player, who has yet to come forward, won the cash by matching the first five white balls taken from the hopper, but missed the red Powerball.

That combination normally is worth $200,000, but the player hit the multiplier to double the prize. A player in North Carolina also won $400,000 while one player Arizona and another from North Carolina each won $200,000.

In total, more than 334,140 players collectively won more than $3.1 million in Wednesday's drawing.

The wining numbers Wednesday were 4, 8, 18, 33, 36 and the Powerball was 32. The Power Play multiplier was 2.

With no grand prize winners, the jackpot will grow to an estimated $25 million for Saturday's drawing.
