Hiawatha line will be closed for morning

Riders will be directed to take Route 55 buses while the maintenance work continues from 2 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Metro Transit will shut down the Hiawatha light-rail line until noon today for maintenance work at several locations. Riders will be shifted onto Route 55 buses.

Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport: Install software enhancements to improve train operations between the main terminal and the Humphrey terminal and test fire-suppression equipment in the tunnels.

Minnehaha Park tunnel: Test fire equipment.

Cedar-Riverside station: Conduct a test of track and signal equipment.

Downtown area: Clean and repair skyways over the line.

I-35W IS NOW CLOSED between Interstate 94 and Crosstown Hwy. 62 will be closed until 5 a.m. Monday in south Minneapolis for construction work.
