Scott Studham, University of Minnesota vice president and chief information officer (CIO), resigned Friday, becoming the second U administrator to do so in the past month.

"The U is a great place and I learned a lot, but my passion is elsewhere," Studham said Friday in an e-mail to the Star Tribune.

He arrived at the U in February 2012 by way of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In the CIO position, he oversaw IT operations across the U's five-campus system.

U spokesman Evan Lapiska declined to specify the reason for Studham's resignation. "The university thanks Mr. Studham for his service and wishes him the best as he pursues other opportunities," Lapiska said in a statement.

On Aug. 6, U Athletic Director Norwood Teague resigned amid revelations that he sexually harassed two of his colleagues. "This has no connection whatsoever to the Teague situation," Lapiska said.

The U will conduct a national search to replace Studham, according to Lapiska. Bernard Gulachek, associate vice president, will serve in the interim.
