In the early hours following the Independence Day holiday, at least 10 people were reportedly shot and injured on Minneapolis streets, according to police reports available Monday.

Police are asking for people who may have witnessed the shootings that occurred early Sunday to come forward and share what they know.

"I know there are people out there that have information," said Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder.

A little after 1 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot and injured on Bryant Avenue N. near Olson Highway Servce Road. According to the police report, the suspect fled the scene. A few minutes later, a 37-year-old man was the victim of a shooting reported in the 4000 block of Camden Avenue N. Both victims suffered noncritical wounds.

In an earlier news release, police said at 2:07 a.m. Sunday, officers on foot patrol near N. 4th Street and Hennepin Avenue heard gunshots and saw a crowd of people running from the area. Officers found two men with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), one with "very serious" injuries and one with noncritical injuries, Elder said. According to the police report, one of the people injured was a 16-year-old boy and another a 24-year-old man, but Elder said on Monday, he couldn't say which one was severely injured.

Shortly after 2:15 a.m., two privately owned cars pulled into North Memorial with two men, ages 21 and 23, and a 16-year-old boy with gunshot wounds, according to a news release and police reports. Two of the three had noncritical injuries, but one was very seriously wounded. The ShotSpotter activation system pointed authorities to the area of Broadway and N. 4th Street, and preliminary investigation by police indicates that this is where the shooting occurred.

Shortly after 3 a.m., officers heard more gunfire and responded to the area of N. 3rd Street and 2nd Avenue N., where they located a man and woman with noncritical gunshot injuries. Several minutes later, officers were notified that another man had just arrived from the N 3rd Street shooting scene at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound. Later after 2 p.m., police responding to a shooting in the 3100 block of James Avenue N. were told by a dispatcher that the 24-year-old victim was taken to the hospital already by his parents after he was reportedly shot in the knee. Authorities are investigating the shootings and looking through video footage. On Monday, Elder said that police had developed suspects in the majority of the shooting cases over the weekend and there was not evidence that any of the shootings were related. Anyone with information about any of these shootings is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send an anonymous tip to CRIMES (274637) and begin message with: TIP674 or call the Minneapolis police tip line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
