Robber of 2 banks draws five-plus years

Man sentenced for bank robberies in West St. Paul, Arizona.

A 36-year-old man has been sentenced in federal court for bank robberies last fall in West St. Paul and in Arizona.

Jeffrey D. Furtney, address unknown, was sentenced in St. Paul to five years and three months in prison and five years of supervised release on two counts of bank robbery. He pleaded guilty in March.

According to his plea agreement, on Nov. 13, 2007, Furtney robbed a TCF Bank, at the Cub Foods store in West St. Paul, of about $4,320. He also admitted to robbing a Bank of America in Scottsdale, Ariz., of about $11,940.

The Arizona case was transferred to Minnesota for consolidation with the West St. Paul case.
