Last update: October 3, 2008 - 10:02 AM

A semitrailer truck overturned in Stearns County Thursday night, injuring the driver and killing 2,600 turkeys it was hauling to a processing plant, authorities said.

Wilfred Hinnenkamp, 74, of Melrose, Minn., was taken to a hospital with minor injuries after the truck rolled over around 9:22 p.m. on County Road 12, about one-half mile north of County Road 31 in Oak Township, said Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner.

The truck owned by Jenni-O-Foods was bringing the turkeys from Hawick to a processing plant in Melrose when the accident happened, Sanner said.

The crash is under investigation.
