A daylong standoff in Burnsville's Sunset Lake neighborhood ended peacefully just before 4 p.m. Wednesday when police successfully negotiated with a suicidal man who had barricaded himself in a home.
The man surrendered to police and no one was injured, said Sgt. Jeff Witte of the Burnsville Police.
Police responded to the house on Sunset Lake Road after someone called asking officers to check on the man at 8:59 a.m. Wednesday, Witte said.
Police officers, a SWAT team and canine units covered the area near the intersection of Judicial Road and West Burnsville Parkway. They closed roads leading into the neighborhood and Witte said they evacuated some nearby homes. Witte said he expected streets leading into the neighborhood to be open late Wednesday afternoon.
