Authorities are trying to find out why a woman fell off a motorcycle and onto Interstate 94, where she was hit by passing motorists and killed Sunday night.

The woman, identified as Kristin Gluth, 25, of Mankato, was a passenger on the motorcycle driven by Teric Carlson, 22, of St. Cloud. Gluth somehow fell off the bike around 8:30 p.m. Sunday on eastbound I-94 near Avon. She was hit by passing drivers and died, the State Patrol said.

Carlson and three other motorists involved in the incident were not injured, the patrol said.
