A 13-hour standoff between Hudson, Wis., police and a Minnesota man who barricaded himself inside his ex-girlfriend's home after a domestic incident ended Saturday evening with the suspect's arrest.

Police and SWAT teams surrounded the house near 5th and Myrtle Streets between 3 and 3:30 a.m. Saturday after the ex-girlfriend called 911, said Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen. She told authorities the suspect began trashing the interior and, when she attempted to call for help, he took the phone from her. Police said she was able to leave and make the call from a different residence.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jonathan A. Klisch, was out on a felony bail bond and was breaking a no-contact order by visiting the woman, Jensen said. Klisch has a known history of violent behavior, police said, and authorities have been dispatched to that home for domestic issues in the past.

Tear gas and other chemicals were deployed throughout the day to draw Klisch, who was thought to be armed, out of the home. But he never emerged.

Around 4:20 p.m., SWAT teams moved in on the house and located Klisch hiding in an attic crawl space. "We pretty much had to tear the house down to find him," Jensen said.

Police said Klisch suffered a dog bite during the search but is in good condition. None of the officers was injured.

A handgun, which belonged to the homeowner, was also found in the house.

About eight nearby residences were evacuated Saturday as police attempted to lure Klisch outside.

Klisch is charged with jumping bail, violating a no-contact order and obstructing and resisting arrest. Further charges are pending.
