The driver who led police on an 11-mile chase in Otter Tail County was a Fergus Falls council member and professor in the business school at Minnesota State University, Moorhead.

Timothy Rundquist, 62, died Monday night after crashing into a police squad car.

Rundquist was a business of law professor at the university since August, according to his LinkedIn profile. The profile also says that since May he's been an assistant county attorney in Stevens County.

Previously he was in private practice in Fergus Falls for more than a decade, his profile said.

A little after 5 p.m. Monday, a state trooper stopped Rundquist on Hwy. 54 near Elbow Lake, Minn., but Rundquist drove off, according to the State Patrol.

During the 11-mile chase that ensued, Rundquist ran over stop sticks that were deployed by the State Patrol and assisting law enforcement agencies, which involved Ashby and Fergus Falls police as well as the Grant County and Otter Tail County Sheriff's Offices.

Rundquist continued to flee before hitting a parked unoccupied Ashby police squad car head-on near Hwy. 59 and Interstate 94.

Rundquist was trapped in the vehicle and declared dead at the scene.

No police officers were injured.
