An administrator at an assisted-care facility in Andover was charged Monday with stealing medication from patients.

On June 23, officials received a report of a drug theft at Farmstead, which is at 13733 Quay St. NW. in the north metro, after an employee received an anonymous e-mail that read: "Look into the Farmstead's narcotic administration/disposal … ASAP," according to the charging documents.

The discrepancy in the pharmacy audit reports led to clinical administrator Kent Boldt.

Boldt, 49, was not involved with "day-to-day patient follow-up and the ongoing care of the residents." However, the charging documents said, Boldt was "adamant that he wanted to be involved with the distribution and logging" of patients' prescribed narcotics.

Boldt was suspended pending an internal investigation into allegations that he ordered narcotics for patients from pharmacies and had them delivered to Farmstead, but never gave them to the patients. Boldt also "changed the medical records of patients in order to obtain the OxyContin," the complaint said.

Besides diverting narcotics from patients, Boldt allegedly lied about destroying medicine. The charging documents said Boldt would ask a nurse to sign paperwork certifying the destruction of some narcotics, but the nurse was never present.

After Boldt was removed from the property, numerous prescription medications, including oxycodone and morphine, were found behind file cabinets and under baseboard heaters, the complaint said.

Boldt e-mailed the facility his resignation during the internal investigation.
