SAUK RAPIDS, MINN. - A Sauk Rapids man has survived after being run over by a train.

Police reports say the man was lying between the tracks late Saturday when a southbound train near First Street and Railroad Avenue ran over him. He was able to talk to firefighters and emergency personnel while they worked to remove him from under the locomotive.

Police say the train was moving slower than usual when it stopped over the man, who was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment. He was awake and alert on Sunday morning.

The man told police he was walking home when it happened.
