MINNEAPOLIS — Breakdancing crews from across the Twin Cities will face off in a tournament style competition in downtown Minneapolis next month.

The Cowles (kohlz) Center for Dance and the Performing Arts is hosting the sixth annual Groundbreaker Battle on Sept. 13 from noon to 8 p.m.

Local breaker crews will compete for cash prizes. They'll be judged by well-known B-boy and B-girl crews from around the country.

There also will be a hip-hop dance and beat boxing workshop, a graffiti installation and performances by musicians Up Rock and Ill Chemistry.

The event is free and open to the public.
