A Minneapolis School District employee arrested Wednesday for allegedly possessing child pornography was out of jail this afternoon, but his troubles are far from over.
Scott Charles Slocum, 53, was due in court today to face three felony charges of possession of pornography involving a minor, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Hennepin County District Court.
According to the complaint: It was Slocum's wife who last year tipped off authorities that her husband had stored pornographic images on a computer in their Eden Prairie home. She called police in April 2007. Authorities then began an investigation.
Police conducted a forensic examination of five computers at the home and found more than 600 images depicting Slocum simulating sex acts with stuffed animals along with photographs of children in sexual poses and other pornographic images involving minors as young as 2 years old, the complaint said.
Susan Eilertsen, a spokeswoman for Minneapolis Public Schools, confirmed that Slocum had worked for the district for 15 years as a social studies teacher until he was put on paid administrative leave in April 2007. He has not taught since.
When charges were filed Wednesday, Slocum was placed on unpaid leave, Eilertsen said.
