"Sorry."
That's how a suburban woman ended her stickup note when she robbed a bank in a grocery store to pay off a debt to her boyfriend, federal authorities say.
Kristine Lacy, 22, was indicted this week in federal court in connection with the July 18 holdup of the TCF Bank in the Cub Foods store on County Road 10 in Brooklyn Center.
According to court records:
Lacy, of Brooklyn Center, entered the bank shortly before noon and handed a teller a note that read, "Give me all your money. This is not a joke. Sorry."
The teller gave Lacy about $1,551, and she left the bank on foot.
Surveillance video showed Lacy leaving the grocery store and getting into a minivan. Later, law enforcement spotted a vehicle matching the van's description parked in a strip mall parking lot a few miles from the bank.
During a search of nearby businesses, police arrested Lacy and recovered the note from the pocket of Lacy's jacket and $1,561 in her purse.
Lacy admitted to police that she robbed the bank and said she did it "because she was in debt to her boyfriend and he was pressuring her to pay him back," according to the criminal complaint
