Hoping to offset the costs that his family will face in the weeks ahead, friends of homicide victim Steve Martin, 37, established a fund in his name this week.
Martin, a father of nine, was shot to death Monday night during a street fight on Penn Avenue North that his friends said he was trying to break up. The construction worker was hit in the neck by a bullet and died about half an hour later at the hospital. He lived with his wife, Nicole, and their children a few blocks away.
His death remains under investigation. No immediate arrests were made.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
The memorial fund can be found at http://www.gofundme.com/arlzrg.
