Police shot one of two suspects during a foot chase that also left an officer injured in north Minneapolis on Friday afternoon.

The two suspects were arrested and hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police officials said they did not know how the officer was injured, but said he had not been shot.

Police said a handgun was recovered in the area.

According to Minneapolis deputy police Chief Kris Arneson, a resident called 911 about 3:30 p.m. to report two men fighting, at least one with a gun, at 24th Avenue N. and 3rd Street N. When police arrived, the two men fled, and police shot one of the suspects and arrested both within a block.

The chase covered less than a block, a witness said.

Arneson said police were in the early stages of the investigation and that no further information would be available until Monday.
